Awesome Sauce! All three kids like this fish dish…

DSC01901 Miracle of miracles, all three kids liked this fish dish. The world can end now. Do you have that kind of family? One likes one thing, the other hates it, and round and round it goes. That is every meal in my house. Two are happy while one pushes the food around his plate. IT GET’S OLD QUICK! Well, well a long, long time ago a few of my neighbors hosted a play date (hate those things- why can’t kids just ring a bell and play? Dont even get me started!) every Wednesday afternoon. One particular Wednesday all the Dads were out of town and very commune-like we ladies decided to all pitch in and make dinner to share with the kiddos. My friend Corinne, from France chose to make a fish dish, for kids, with fancy sauce, and dill, which is green. What was she thinking? ‘Merican kids eat chicken nuggets, everyone knows that. “No, no zay vill eat zees feesh deesh!” Please read that in your best stern, French accent. I had doubts with my two picky eaters.

Shock. I was wrong. My two little boys loved this dish. It was the awesome sauce that helped them gobble it down, and that’s awesome sauce with me.

All you have to do…
Take a big dollop of sour cream and stir in a little Dijon mustard to taste, about a teaspoon, or two, or three. Salt and pepper a nice thick piece of white fish- I used a one pound cod fillet. Spread the fish with the sour cream mixture and sprinkle with dried dill weed. Bake your fish in a 375 degree oven until the fish is cooked through. Mine took about 20 minutes. Serve with some fresh fruit and tiny roasted potatoes. Oui oui! Zat is awesome sauce.

    I love dijon on my fish and love your sour cream addition to make it ultra creamy! I bet it would be good with Greek yogurt too.

    Hmmm, sour cream and fish. Never thought of it. I usually just do salt, pepper, dill and butter to bake then make tarter sauce to dip. I think I’m going to try this on some swai I have in the freezer. Thanks!
