BNTO and Jar Giveaway plus 3 Twisted Lunch Recipes


Time to get twisted. Have you seen these BNTO inserts for your jar lunches? Well, these turn a lunch into a feast. BNTO inserts sit down in your jar so that you can keep crispy things crispy, salad dressings away from salads until serving time, and dips atop dippers only to dip when you are ready. So, here we are a few weeks into the school year and I have, as I always do, made sure the kids are fed but forget Himself and my lunches for our day. Off he goes to some eatery, upping our food budget, and off I go to picking on things not so healthy.

Teaming up again with Fillmore Container, who supplied me with a few BNTOs and lids, I created a few TWISTED recipes, and since the BNTO turns a one-compartment jar into two compartments, I have put a TWIST on a few classic Pairs…

Like Peanut Butter and Jelly…


Twisted Chicken Satay and Pepper Jelly Dipping Sauce
1.  Mix 1/4 cup natural creamy peanut butter, 1/4 cup water, 2 tsp. fresh lime juice, 1 tsp. soy sauce, 1 clove garlic minced, 2 tsp. sriracha.
2. Dice 1 chicken breast half into 1/2 inch pieces. Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a skillet and stir fry chicken until no longer pink on the outside.  Stir in Satay sauce, and stir fry for 3 minutes longer until sauce is thick and chicken is cooked through.
3. Divide Chicken Satay between 2 wide mouth pint jars and top each with a BNTO.
4. To each BNTO mix 2 tablespoons pepper jelly and 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar.
5.  Twist on Plastic Lid.

His and her TWISTED lunches to go!  Take along a salad or a jar of rice.

Or how about a little TWISTED Pork Chops and Apple Sauce?

Twisted Pork Meatballs with Chipotle Apple Butter
A great shortcut to meatballs is using your favorite sausages, removing the casings, and rolling into meatballs.
1.  Remove the casings from 4 of your favorite raw, pork sausages (I used Trader Joe’s Bratwurst), and roll each into 4 one-inch balls.
2. Bake the meatballs in a 425 degree oven for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through.
3. Divide the cooked meatballs between two wide mouth pint size jars and top each with a BNTO.
4.  In a small bowl mix 1/2 cup Apple Butter, 1 tablespoon of your favorite BBQ sauce, and 1/2 tsp. chipotle pepper powder. Divide between each BNTO.

A Twisted sweet and spicy snack!

Now for a coffee break. Coffee and donuts anyone?


Twisted Coffee Yogurt with Apple Rings
Ok, ok, I had to show you a healthy TWIST on a classic.  Of course we all would rather be diving head first into a dozen Amish Apple Cider Donuts instead, huh?  But this will have you dipping over and over again, I promise.
1.  Core two small apples and slice 1/4 inch thick.
2. Place apple rings in a small bowl of water with a good squeeze of fresh lemon juice to prevent browning.
3. Shake off water and divide apple rings between 2 wide mount pint jars and top each with a BNTO.
4. To each BNTO add your favorite brand of Coffee yogurt (I used Brown Cow). Sprinkle with cinnamon and twist on plastic lids.

    This is the greatest invention since the wheel! I can’t wait to try your recipes (I tend to get stuck in the same old routine when it comes to lunches, and they get boring FAST)!

    We’ve been on an ‘apple slices dipped in Nutella’ kick, but coffee flavored yogurt sounds much healthier and delish!

    Love the chicken satay and pepper jelly using sriracha as shortcut from harvesting jalapenos. Also love use of chipotle powder, instead of canned! Brilliant!!!

    I’m so thrilled that the mason jar movement is expanding with products just like these! What other item out there has so many uses??? You can store food, use as a drinking glass, portable lunches, and the original use – food preservation!
