45 More Days!

Gulp. Big Red Kitchen Cooking Salon goes live at Lake Anne’s Market in 45 days! I am in overdrive as I speak daily with dinnerware and flatware vendors, scheduling and account management companies, Paypal, the Market Coordinator, marketing reps, attorneys, and Health Department. Some days I work 12 hours! The biggest obstacle is getting the website up and running. I must explain the Salons, allow my Distinguished Guests to register and pay for their Salon, and answer whatever questions folks may have.

I am hoping that one of the restaurants near the market will allow me to rent their dishes for the day, but if not I have been testing various products and found this beautiful dinnerware created by Verterra. The plates and bowls are made from special leaves that have been shaped with steam. I am seeking a product that is compostable, attractive, and has that Salon feel. The flatware? Well I am still waiting for the second vendor to send me some samples. The first samples were very rough and I felt my Distinguished Guests did not deserve splinters in their lips and tongue. I’ll continue to keep you posted with how things are going.

Busy me means I have been coping with these easy meals.
1. Roast Beef served as opened face hot sandwiches with gravy, fruit.
2. Roasted chicken, homemade potato wedges, salad.
3. Fajitas using leftover beef and chicken, fresh fruit.
4. Breakfast for dinner.
5. One Pan Pasta Carbonara with shrimp and asparagus, salad.
6. Pork Tenderloin, Thin-thin potatoes, unsweetened applesauce, salad.
7. Crockpot Chicken Curry, rice, fruit, salad. Delicious- thanks Michelle!

    oneordinaryday- Michelle I have been making crockpot and simple dinners to cope with the business and one of the crockpot meals was your Crockpot Chicken Curry, so good! The Salon is only 2 hours, so it would be tough to do a crockpot meal!

    Sometimes when I'm really busy or I'm just really tired I pick up a chicken from Sam's Club or Costco. Then I'll make a huge salad with baked sweet potato fries.

    Another thing I'll do is pasta! That always comes together so quickly.

    TV dinners. I was never into TV dinners. Was not crazy about them but this year, we have begun to eat TV dinners. They are not bad and I buy them on sale. They are good in a pinch. Ma

    Robin Sue – That's a great looking chicken dish below. Growing garlic is way too easy, especially in your area – it likes cold. Key things – use seed garlic bulbs as the stuff in the store is often treated to prevent sprouting, plant 2" deep, tip end up in the fall – probably in Oct for you, give it a little feed and water during the spring, snip off the seed pod stems, and harvest when the bottom three leaves are still green.     I love the concept, I love the bags…I only wish I lived closer so that I could participate.

    I understand you want everything top notch for your 'distinguished guests' but those dishes look pricey for disposables and I assume you're in this for some profit. Just a thought.

    Thanks Robin Sue, yes I got a new house for Vday this year from my hubby 😉 Nice new kitchen and lots of more space. I have been in slight heaven and cannot wait to actually get through the move and enjoy it more! I will do some photos once I get acclimated (yesterday I discovered a whole new empty cupboard, lol) With all the hussle bussle I too, have been crockpotting it almost every day. We have eaten my maple pork tenderloin about 5 times now. Set the crock, set the rice cooker- done!
    Loving your bags, love those plates! I am so excited for your cooking salon and anticipation is building!
    I will add your curry to my busy list.

    I LOVE your red market bags and would be very pleased to be able to purchase at least two of them! I am collecting bags from all of my favorite people and places. It is such a hoot to have people ask about them when I am shopping!! Best of Luck at the market.

    Is the site up yet? I want to order a bag too, and if I ever get to VA I'd want to try a class. I took one when I went to AZ at at cookware store. Fun!
